Rafael Antonio Almeida Castro, 64, of Germantown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026.

Born on April 17, 1962, Rafael lived a life marked by strength, dedication, and deep love for his family. A proud retired veteran of the Ecuadorian Navy, he carried with him a strong sense of discipline, honor, and resilience throughout his life.

Rafael will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Maria Reveca Santillan; his children, Victor A. Almeida, Sergio A. Almeida, Michelle E. Almeida, and Kevin A. Almeida; as well as his cherished grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. His family was the center of his world, and some of his happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones, sharing laughter, stories, and home-cooked meals.

He enjoyed watching soccer, spending time with family and friends, and bringing joy to those around him with his strong personality and unforgettable sense of humor. Rafael had a presence that could fill a room, and the memories he created with those who knew him will remain in their hearts forever.

Though he will be deeply missed, his love, laughter, and legacy will continue to live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

May he rest in peace.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 19, 2026 from 5-7 PM at Thibadeau Mortuary Chapel. A second visitation will be held the following morning at 9:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with a mass to follow beginning at 11:00 AM.
