Belcamp, MD - Mary Janice Nowalk Davis passed away peacefully, October 8, 2018. She was born June 14, 1935 in Erie, PA to June Maebon Nowalk and Frederick Fay Nowalk. She attended Strong Vincent High School and Mercyhurst College in Erie, and Duke Univ., majoring in Microbiology. After graduating, she worked in research for Parke Davis in Detroit, MI and later for Case Westen Reserve in Cleveland, OH. In 1966, she joined the Peace Corps teaching for two years at Pahlavi University in Shiraz, Iran. She loved the Iranian people and brought home many fond memories of her time in Iran. She returned to Buffalo, NY where she met her next door neighbor and future husband, Robert (Bob) Davis. In 1970, they married in Kenmore, NY and shortly after, moved to Westchester County where Bob was employed in the newly created Union Carbide Research Center. Mary fell in love with the Hudson River Valley, and settled in Piermont, NY. They adopted two children from Korea, first the future Kimberly Fay McDonough, and then Kristen Sun Ndure. They retired in 2001 to Mesa, AZ, but moved back East to Belcamp, MD. Mary loved art, music, and painting, but above all, she loved travel. Over the years, she traveled to 86 countries. In April 2017, she suffered a stroke robbing her of her eyesight. They decided to move to Sunrise Senior Living in Montgomery Village, MD where they lived until Her death.
Mary was preceded in death by her younger sister, Jane Kummer, and is survived by her husband, Bob, two daughters, Kimberly and Kristen, and three grandchildren.
