Dr. Mark A Sobolewski, 64, of Rockville, MD, died at Shady Grove Adventist Medical Center on Saturday, September 7, 2004 of pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Mount Hope, New Jersey on July 11, 1960, as the son of the late Frank and Emily (Dulak) Sobolewski. His family moved to Concord, Massachusetts in 1968 and Mark graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1977. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Princeton University in 1981 and both a Master's degree and a PhD from Stanford University in electrical engineering.
Mark was employed for over thirty years by the National Institute of Standards and Technology where he was a Project Leader in the Process Sensing Group. He was dedicated to his work, authoring many papers and speaking at conferences around the world about his research.
He was predeceased by his brother Frank M. Sobolewski, of Concord, Massachusetts. He is survived by his brother, John Sobolewski of Concord, Massachusetts and his sister, Ann Marie Sobolewski, her husband Jon Wilhelmsen and his two nephews, Christian and Brendan Wilhelmsen, all of Plympton, Massachusetts.
