In honor and loving memory of Keith Nale Frye, born June 13, 1941 in Washington County, Indiana to Imogene and Haskell Frye. Keith married Karen in December 1982. The couple and their son, Cameron, reside in Montgomery County, MD. Keith departed this life on March 13, 2022. He had been in poor health for several years, but quickly deteriorated after taking an experimental vaccine. He passed after a brief stay at Casey House under the care of Montgomery Hospice.
Keith graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. His post graduate education included Psychology (University of Louisville), Accounting (University of Michigan) and Systems Engineering (University of Southern California). Upon retirement he secured his certification as a Professional Microsoft Systems Engineer through Orange Technologies in Washington, DC.
Keith’s perseverance and attention to detail earned him numerous official citations for appreciation and commendation during his successful career with the US Government. His tenure included the Department of Treasury, the Department of Defense (civilian), the Office of Management and Budget, and the Department of Energy. He was a Charter Member of the Senior Executive Service and was responsible for a variety of policies and programming initiatives to better achieve national benefits in collaboration with National Laboratories, private industry, and international governments. He traveled the world extensively in an official capacity to establish research and development programs for advanced technologies, as well as in the US, that led to innovations in the production of clean reliable energy, environmental controls, maintenance of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the Nation’s program for scientific outerplanetary studies, and the establishment of uniform maintenance cost accounting practices for the Joint Secretariat. His 30-year career was testament to his commitment to public service.
Upon retirement Keith started his own business working to advance environmental controls for residential and business use. He also supported the advancement of supercomputing through the Seagate Technology Partner Program.
Keith was a longstanding member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment and the Board of Directors of an education ministry.
In all aspects of his life he was innovative and forever young of heart. He was interested in a wide variety of subjects, read extensively, and found special joy in gardening, his dogs, home improvements, travel, shoes and Maryland soft shell crabs.
Keith loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Karen C. Frye, his son Cameron Frye, his daughter Sherri Frye Tharp of Texas, her husband Rusty Tharp, three grandsons, three great grandchildren, his sister Jonell Ratts of Indiana, and his cousin Jack Lloyd of California.
Keith was preceded in death by his sister Cynthia, his son Timothy, and his great grandbaby Zane.
