John Kevin McAleer

John Kevin McAleer passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. Born on February 9, 1950, in Washington, D.C., Kevin was the eldest son of the late Rose Mary and John H. McAleer. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, James and Bernadette.

He is survived by his children, Colleen, Mary Anne, and Stella, and their mother Jennifer; his siblings, Thomas, Patrick (Sally), Janet (Alan), Andrew (Barbara), Robert (Kathy), Michael, Stephen (Beverly), and Kathleen (Keith); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and cherished extended family. Kevin especially treasured the lifelong friendships he maintained from as far back as kindergarten.

Kevin was a self-proclaimed “record store guy” with a lifelong passion for art, animals, and nature. He was especially loved at family gatherings for entertaining the kids with his magic tricks and playful spirit. When asked what he wanted for holiday gifts, Kevin’s answer was always the same: “peace on Earth and a baby gorilla”. More than anything, he hoped people would be kind to one another, help others whenever they could, and stand up for those whose voices are ignored.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Second Chance Wildlife Center, Southern Poverty Law Center, The Greta Thunberg Foundation, or another worthy organization fighting to protect all living beings on this planet.
