In Loving Memory

James Everitt Koegler

November 22, 1945 - May 24, 2026

James “Jim” Koegler, 80, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, after losing a long and hard fought battle with heart disease. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and love of life touched all who knew him.

Jim has never met a stranger and has always been known for his outgoing personality and ability to make others feel welcome. He treasured time with family and friends and leaves behind countless cherished memories.

An avid golfer, Jim found great enjoyment on the golf course, where he combined his passion for the game with lasting friendships. Whether outdoors, sharing stories, or gathering with loved ones, he approached life with enthusiasm and gratitude.

Jim dedicated many years of distinguished service to the Department of Defense. His professionalism, commitment, and strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and were the foundation of a career he valued deeply.

Above all, Jim’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Maude Koegler. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Koegler; his daughters, Tori Nicodemus (Hector) and Dawn Martin (Troy); his cherished grandchildren, Cayetano, Malani, and Calista; his siblings, Edward Koegler (Carol), Kenneth Koegler, and Lorraine Harnish (Mike); as well as many extended family members, dear friends and his dog Coby.

Jim will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, devotion to family, and gift for bringing people together. While he will be deeply missed, his legacy endures through the lives he touched and the love he shared.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor on Sunday, June 28th, 2026 at 2pm at Bally Cliff Farm, located at 18330 Darnestown Rd. Poolesville, Md 20837. Family welcomes all friends and loved ones to join us on this day to celebrate his life.
