James Mark Kelleher

James Mark Kelleher, affectionately known as Jim, passed away on November 27, 2024 in Frederick, Maryland, at the age of 87. Jim was born on March 27, 1937, in North Dighton, Massachusetts, and left an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the privilege to know him.

For over 30 years, Jim dedicated his career to education as an English Teacher at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School in Bridgewater, MA. His impact on students was profound, and he was passionate about language, writing, and literature. Jim's dedication to teaching was complemented by his academic achievements, which included a Bachelor's of Arts from Providence College in 1960, a Master's Degree in English from the University of Rhode Island, and a Master's Degree in Education from Bridgewater State College.

Beyond the classroom, Jim was a man of many passions. He enjoyed fishing and canoeing, and he was an avid follower of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, often reveling in the excitement of game days at Fenway Park both as a child and later in life with his daughter. His love for sports extended to playing golf and tennis, where he showcased his competitive spirit and camaraderie with friends. Jim loved having fun and hosted many pool parties over the years, which are fondly remembered by family members, neighbors and friends.

An accomplished musician, Jim was a founding member of the Dixie Diehards, a New Orleans Jazz band, where he showcased his talent on the trombone. His love for music was a significant part of his life, alongside his interests in writing, where he was published in several literary magazines. Known for his generous and kind nature, Jim lived life fully, embodying a sense of humor and wit that brought joy to his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Kelleher; beloved children, Laura Kelleher and John Kelleher; his cherished granddaughter, Adeline Neal; and his grandsons, Trevor Neal and Patrick Neal. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia Phillipe, Susan Manning & Jamie Paterson, Thomas & Betsy Manning, Bucky & Wendy Manning, Kevin Manning, and David A. Driscoll, along with several nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him fondly.  He is also survived by long time family friend, Thomas Flangheddy.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Laura Vaillancourt Kelleher; his father, Henry Francis Kelleher; his brother, Henry Michael Kelleher; and sisters-in-law Mary Joan Driscoll, Rosemary Manning and Margaret Kelleher; as well as brother-in-law John M. Phillipe.

Jim will be deeply missed. His laughter, kindness, and zest for life will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved him.
