Eun Sook Lee, who built a life defined by hard work, faith, and devotion to family, died August 2026, at the age of 89.

Born in 1937, Ms. Lee graduated from Kyunggi High School and Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea. She began her working life as a civil servant in Korea. 

She later immigrated to the United States with her husband and son, embracing the opportunities and challenges of a new country with determination and courage. In time, she became an entrepreneur, starting multiple clothing stores in Wilmington, Delaware, and Baltimore, Maryland. Through more than 25 years in business, she was known for her perseverance and commitment, creating a lasting example of industriousness and resilience.

Her life then took another meaningful direction. Deeply devout, Ms. Lee answered a call to ministry, becoming a pastor and establishing a church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Her faith shaped her life and work, and her ministry reflected her dedication to serving others and building a spiritual community.

Above all, Eun Sook Lee will be remembered within her family with love and gratitude. She is survived by her son, H.K. “Sean” Kim, and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Yu. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Audrey Kim and Miles Kim, who carry forward her memory and the example of her strength, conviction, and care.

She was preceded in death by Dong Hun Kim, her former husband.

Eun Sook Lee’s life was one of enterprise, purpose, and enduring faith. She will be remembered for the path she forged across countries and careers, for the community she helped build, and for the love she gave to her family.
