LIFE TRIBUTE

Dr. Elizabeth Gotauco Bautista Jarin, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at 89 years of age on June 27, 2026. She was born on November 8, 1936, in Imus, Cavite, Philippines to Ambrosio S. Bautista, Sr. and Lorenza G. Bautista. She was the seventh out of nine children.

A true force of nature, Betty, as she was fondly called, loved flowers, piano music, and pop culture. As an avid tennis fan, her favorite players were Carlos Alcaraz and Naomi Osaka. She enjoyed cooking, especially Filipino dishes such as pancit noodles and roasted pork lechon.

Betty earned her undergraduate (B.S.) and medical doctorate (M.D.) degrees from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. She was a dedicated radiologist, starting at St. Vincent’s Hospital in NYC, then Community Memorial Hospital in Toms River, NJ; and the VA Hospital in Washington D.C. where she worked for more than 25 years. She married her sweetheart, Ceferino Virata Jarin at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Brooklyn Heights, NY on August 10, 1968. They built a life together, raising their two children in their homes in Brooklyn, NY, Englishtown, NJ, Silver Spring, MD, and Boyds, MD.

She and Ceferino entered the gates of heaven together. Betty is predeceased by her parents Ambrosio S. Bautista, Sr. and Lorenza G. Bautista; and by her siblings Amancio Bautista, Jr., Leonila B. Inosanto, Romana B. Flores, Florentina B. Spille, Benjamin Bautista, and Ambrosio Bautista Jr. She is survived by her daughter Aimee J. Quast, her son Jay B. Jarin, Aimee’s husband Paul Quast, Jay’s partner Michael Hellgren; by her grandchildren, Brian Quast, Matthew Quast and Emily Quast; and by her siblings Rafael (Apeng) Bautista and Fe B. Santos.

We invite you to join us honoring Elizabeth's life on this dedicated webpage. Your condolences, stories, videos and pictures will be cherished by the family and provide comfort during this difficult time.
