Edward Walter Deptula, Jr.

On Friday, October 20, 2023, Edward W. Deptula, Jr., age 66 of Shamokin, PA died peacefully at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Born on November 22, 1956 to the late Edward Walter, Sr. and Charlotte Anne Marie (née Dehner) Deptula at Shamokin Hospital. He attended Saint Stephen's Elementary School and graduated from Shamokin High School. He earned an associate degree at Willimsport Community College and a bachelor’s degree at Bloomsburg State College. Edward was first employed at Wendys in Shamokin and at Knoebels Amusement Park. He was then employed for many years at Weis Markets Distribution in Milton, PA. He is survived by his brother, Richard Deptula of Silver Spring, MD and his aunt, Wilhelmina Mahl of Augsburg, Germany, and many cousins here, and in Germany. He will also be missed by his many friends in Shamokin, PA.

Eddy enjoyed watching his favorite football teams, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and the Dallas Cowboys. He was also active in his church. He was well known around town as a friendly, jovial, and lovably guy.

Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 10:00 am at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church, 214 N Shamokin St, Shamokin, IL 17872, Entombment to follow at 12 Noon at All Saints Cemetery, 172 All Saints Rd, Elysburg, PA 17824.
