In Beloved Memory

Charles "Chuck" Glenn Hollingsworth

August 7, 1946 — August 2, 2026

Dr. Charles (Chuck) Hollingsworth is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Christine (Chris) Hollingsworth; his son and daughter-in-law, Devin and Janelle Hollingsworth; his daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Courtney and Michael Wagner; his daughter and son-in-law, Gabrielle (Gabe) and Ben Havilland; and his beloved grandchildren, Reed, Emil, Mae, Justin, Leonie, and Hugo. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Hollingsworth, and sister, Jean (Holly) Hodgin.

Chuck was born and raised in Girard, Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed life on Lake Erie. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science and later from the University of Michigan, where he received a Doctorate in Public Health. Chuck moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland, and worked for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), overseeing funding and research for several institutes. In 1993, Chuck met and married the love of his life, his wife Chris, who is also a Girard native and fellow lake lover.

Chuck loved boating along the Chesapeake Bay and traveling abroad with his wife, Chris. He was known for his quick wit, encyclopedic knowledge of the Civil War, and his exuberant laughter. He loved watching football and reading mystery novels. Chuck will be remembered as a kind-hearted husband and grandfather, a fiercely loving and loyal father, and a forever friend.
