Visitation will be held Monday, July 6, 2026 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm at Thibadeau Mortuary Chapel, 124 E Diamond Ave., Gaithersburg, MD 20877. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026, 11:00 am at Mother Seton Catholic Church, 19951 Father Hurley Blvd., Germantown, MD 20874.

LIFE TRIBUTE

Ceferino Virata Jarin, adored husband, father and grandfather, passed away at 91 years of age on June 27, 2026. He was born on November 9, 1934, in Imus, Cavite, Philippines to Santiago Jarin and Rosario Virata Jarin. He was the second out of nine children.

A truly kind and gentle soul, Cefi, as he was affectionally known, immigrated to the United States in 1968 to follow his true love Dr. Elizabeth Jarin. They wed at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Brooklyn Heights, NY on August 10, 1968 and they built a life together raising two children in their homes in Brooklyn, NY, Englishtown, NJ, Silver Spring, MD, and Boyds, MD.

Cefi earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of the East, and his MBA in Finance from the University of the Philippines. Before moving to the United States, he worked as a central banker at the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas, continuing his career at Blue Cross Blue Shield in New York and Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

A man of high intellect, Cefi valued education and he worked to support his siblings in order for them to go to college. He liked history, enjoyed swimming, and loved to travel. He followed the financial markets and loved to talk about investment strategy and stocks. He was a big fan of Warren Buffett. 

Cefi and Betty entered the gates of heaven together. He is predeceased by his father Santiago M. Jarin and his mother Rosario S. Virata; by his siblings Lolita Jarin, Wenceslao (Asis) Jarin, Danilo Jarin and Rolando Jarin. He is survived by his daughter Aimee J. Quast, his son Jay B. Jarin, Aimee’s husband Paul Quast, Jay’s partner Michael Hellgren; by his grandchildren: Brian Quast, Matthew Quast, and Emily Quast; and by his siblings: Mary Jane J. Maroto, Guadalupe J. Santos, Santiago Jarin Jr., and Rosalinda J. Pablo.
