Ward Paul Whitlock

Ward P. Whitlock (81), of Montgomery Village, Maryland, passed away on October 17, 2023. Ward was born to John and Pauline Whitlock on April 1, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas. The family moved to Ithaca, New York where Ward spent most of his childhood. Ward served in the US Army from 1963 to 1966 as a Microwave Radio Technician, spending much of his tour in Cold War West Germany. He continued in the Army Reserve until 1969 at which time he also completed his master's degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University. After graduation, Ward began his career in Montgomery County, Maryland working for various high-tech firms including Watkins-Johnson, Racal, and Litton.

Outside of work, Ward had a passion for Scottish Country Dancing and served as a Royal Scottish Country Dance Society instructor for many years. Ward also enjoyed singing in various choirs and enjoyed classical music. Ward was also quite active, enjoying bicycling and skiing.

Ward is survived by his wife of 47 years Mary Frances (Francie) Milliron, and three stepsons, James, Ryan, and Lee Menzies. He is also survived by his brother John Merrill Whitlock.

Ward’s family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at a time to be determined. The service will be held at Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church, 610 South Fredrick Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD.
