Paul Jeffrey Newman

May 2, 1956 — August 14, 2023

Paul Newman, beloved husband , son, and brother passed away peacefully on August 14, 2023. Although he spent his childhood in southern California, in adulthood he was a long-time resident of Gaithersburg, Maryland.


Paul trained and worked as a civil engineer, most recently with Macris, Hendricks, and Glascock PA in Montgomery Village, Maryland. His favorite aspect of his work was mentoring junior staff. Paul retired in 2021.


Paul enjoyed traveling all over the world, listening to high-end audio equipment, and driving sports cars. He was also a kind, generous, and compassionate person. Paul was a staunch supporter of and member of the Board of Directors of Nourish Now, a non-profit organization that fights food insecurity at the local level. In addition, Paul established a scholarship for selected seniors in STEM programs at Magruder high school.


Paul is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy, and his sister Marti Timmons. He was predeceased by his father Franklin Newman and his mother Marilyn Newman.


A graveside service will be held at the Judean Memorial Gardens in Olney, MD on Friday 8/18 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nourish Now via nourishnow.org.
