Patricia Ann Wells

January 8, 1953 — February 4, 2020

Patricia Wells of Washington D.C. passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on February 4th 2020 at her home in Washington DC at age 67.

Pat was born Patricia Ann Eicke in Washington, D.C. on January 8, 1953 to Mary and Woodward Eicke. She grew up in Kensington and Rockville Maryland and graduated from Woodward High School in 1971. Pat worked at Fannie Mae for many years where she met her life partner Jim Bradley who passed away in 2017. Pat and Jim loved each other deeply and enjoyed traveling all over the world together, being with family, and spending time at their home.

After retirement, Pat committed much of her time and much of her love to volunteer work with the American Red Cross and the People, Animals, Love organization - PAL. She and her dogs frequently visited the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to comfort patients and their families. She was particularly committed to helping our service members and their families and repaying them for their service to our country.

Pat is survived by her beloved dog Elsa, her brother John Eicke and sister Karen Shoemaker, her nieces Samantha, Catherine and Melissa, her nephews Steven and Christopher, Jim’s children Kristin and Matt, her great nieces Jamie, Madeline and Savannah and her great nephew Spencer.

Pat leaves behind an incredible legacy of giving more than she took. For her family, the patients she visited and their families, her fellow volunteers, her coworkers and her neighbors, she was a loving and generous person who always reached out to help. Her legacy is one of love and service to others, which everyone she touched knows so well.

There are many ways to honor Pat’s memory and celebrate her life - thank members of the military and their families for their service and their sacrifices, pet a dog and give them a treat, give without hesitation when you see a need, talk to a stranger, take a trip with someone you love to someplace new or do anything that makes the world a better place for others. If you do one of these things, think of Pat saying “thanks for passing it forward”.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held in the future. Internment services will private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hero Dogs, Inc., P.O. Box 64, Brookeville, MD 20833-0064, http://www.hero-dogs.org/.
