Celebrating the life of Nia Kaye Thomas

Nia Kaye Thomas was born on Clark Airbase, Angeles City, Philippines, August 29, 1969. Her colorful childhood and adolescent years were spent growing up across the states of Oklahoma, Delaware, Ohio, and Hawaii. During her high school years, Nia enjoyed competitive volleyball, playing the clarinet in the marching band, and was recognized as a member of the football homecoming court, riding alongside her sister, Curie Kaye, in a red convertible during the homecoming parade. Both were, still are, beautiful young ladies making their parents proud; they are together now.

After working at Georgetown University for the Department of Defense for 14 years, Nia went back to school to accomplish her goal of being a computer scientist and Nia completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland University College. Towards the end of her professional career, Nia worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist at Quality Agents LLC., where she met Carla Rampy, her boss, mentor, and friend. The family wishes to express their great appreciation and gratitude to Ms. Rampy for her caring and steady professional support for Nia. Nia’s heart was expressed through her passions of painting, crocheting, and of inspiring others throughout the Mary Kay Community nationwide. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Nia. She loved a quiet evening with family, friends, and Cosmo, her dog. During her breaks, Nia enjoyed camping and found beauty in the sound of the waves crashing on the beaches in Hawaii and Assateague Island. She had uncanny abilities to guide and mentor others and to find joy regardless of circumstances. Her kindness was contagious to everyone she met. After a two-year grueling battle with breast cancer, our courageous warrior, Nia, passed away on March 4, 2024, at the age of 54. She was surrounded by loved ones who all continue to honor the legacy by living their lives to the fullest, led by the example that Nia left with us.

Nia is survived by her lifelong partner Oscar; Mother, Felicia; Father, Roger; Stepfather, John; Brother, Phillip; Sister, Christina; nieces, nephews and cousins.
