Jeanne Jarvis

On Tuesday, August 25, 2020 Jeanne Elizabeth (née Ashley) Jarvis, age 78, of Gaithersburg, Maryland died peacefully at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, Maryland. Born on January 18, 1942 in Evanston, Illinois to John Albert and Elizabeth Jeannette (nee McCullough) Ashley. Jeanne attended Evanston Township High School and earned a bachelor's degree at Illinois State University. She was married for a time to James L. Jarvis, and worked as a homemaker, a teacher, and as a seamstress. Jeanne enjoyed art and crafts such as watercolor painting, weaving, sewing, basketry, pottery, and jewelry making. She also enjoyed hiking in the woods, looking for wild plants and bird watching. Residing for many years in Bethesda, Maryland, upon retirement she moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland. Beloved mother of David G. Jarvis and his wife, Leslie (Sagle) Jarvis, of Chevy Chase, Maryland and Anne (Jarvis) McDermott and her husband, Owen J. McDermott of Hansville, Washington. She had three dear granddaughters, Lily E. McDermott, Margaret R. Jarvis, and Catherine E. Jarvis. Jeanne will be missed by family and friends. A graveside memorial service will be held at a future time at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Illinois.
