Florence Evelyn Thomason

Florence E. Thomason, age 100, of Bethesda, MD, entered into the arms of her Lord, on January 25, 2021. Born January 23, 1921 in Mason Hall, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Evie and Halford Thomason. She was preceded in death by her sisters Hazel and June, her brother Ross, and a nephew David.

Florence spent a 35-year career at the FBI in criminal records management. Her childhood neighbor was an employee of the FBI and encouraged Florence and her sister June to join after they finish high school. She was always a dedicated public servant and strongly believed in the FBI’s mission.

Florence was very dedicated to the Takoma Park Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., and volunteered much of her time and skills to the church's mission. She loved taking care of her friends when they needed help, and gave her time and effort joyfully. Two of her friends, Jane Manning and Deborah Siler, took care of Florence in her final years.

Florence is survived by three nieces and two nephews: Mary Jane Gorman (husband Duncan), Kay Banks Freeman (husband Jerry), Carol Hile-Cranford (husband Joe), Bruce Wayne Thomason, and Michael Gorman (wife Robin).

A private memorial service will be held by her family. Florence will be laid to rest in New Salem Baptist Cemetery in Mason Hill, TN.
