Dorothy Wonder Shankle

Dorothy W. Shankle, age 98, of Gaithersburg, Maryland passed away peacefully on September 4, 2015. Beloved wife of her late husband Daniel R. Shankle. She was happily married for 66 years and left 3 adoring children, Daniel R. Shankle Jr., Judith Bartuil, and Donald T. Shankle, along with 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy retired after 25 years of service with the National Bureau of Standards. She was an expert gardener, specializing on cross-breeding roses. She also was an excellent artist, having sold many of her paintings.

A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Gaithersburg, 200 W Diamond Avenue, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877 on September 5, 2015 at 10 am. The family will receive friends following the burial, after 3:30 pm at Donald Shankle's home.
