Carol Spooner Knight, 78, a resident of Arlington, VA and Washington D.C for 27 years, died of cancer early in the morning on January 30th in her home. Mrs. Knight was born in Kittery, Maine in 1945, and was primarily raised in Northern Virginia. She graduated from McLean High School in 1963. She furthered her education with an undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa and a graduate degree from the University of Southern California.


Carol was predeceased by her husband Cmdr. Robert C. Knight Jr, USN, who passed away in 1982. She is survived by her two sons Keith A. Knight (Megan) of Arlington, VA and Brian D. Knight (Amy) of Virginia Beach, VA., and 4 grandchildren Juliette Knight (12), Barrett Knight (10), Camila Knight (9), and Amelia Knight (8), in addition to a large extended family.


She was an active and beloved member at Christ Church + Washington Parish – Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. for the past 25+ years and donated countless hours of her time helping a variety of charitable organizations on Capitol Hill through the church.


Memorial services will be held Saturday Feb 17, 2024 at 10 a.m., Christ Church + Washington Parish – Capitol Hill, 620 G St SE, Washington D.C. 20003.


Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or the Capitol Hill Community Action Group (communityactiongroup.org).
